Questions we hear most
Do I need a permit, and who pulls it?
For panels, new circuits and most rewiring, yes. We pull the permit and book the inspection, and the fee is its own line on your estimate. The city and the smaller towns around it have different rules, and we tell you which one applies to your address.
What does a visit cost, and does it come off the job?
We tell you the visit fee when you book. If you go ahead with the work, the fee comes off the job. The pricing page explains what changes the number.
Are you licensed and insured, and how do I check?
The license number is in the footer of every page, with a link to the state's lookup page. Ask Laurie for a certificate of insurance and she will send one.
Do you do emergency work?
No. We answer Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and book Saturdays by appointment. For fire, call 911. If it is safe, turn off the breaker, and call us when we open.
The home inspection flagged my wiring. What now?
Send us the report, or a photo of the page. We read it, tell you which findings matter and which are notes, and write an estimate for the ones that do.
How do I send photos?
Text them to (423) 555-0100. A photo of the outside of the panel and one of the meter is enough to start. Please don't open anything to take one.
Why does my breaker keep tripping?
A breaker trips to protect the wire. A heavy load, a worn breaker or a fault in the wiring can each do it. Repeated trips are worth a visit, and we find out which it is.
Do you work on older houses?
Yes. Fuse boxes, cloth-covered wire and ungrounded outlets are a large part of what we see, and we can work one room at a time.
